This project was a collaboration with Peter Gowran MRIAI and ShoalWater Timberframe Ltd to deliver an ultra high performance low energy home for the client. The existing cottage maintains the character of the location, but on entering reveals beautiful architectural detail finished to an exceptional standard.
Adrian Avenue, Kimmage, Dublin 6W
This 1930’s home was extended with a bright airy open plan extension. Requiring the demolition of an existing cast concrete return and conservatory, this project incorporated a very high spec of insulation with quality Carlson doors and windows to add 30m² to the living area of the house.
Red Lane, Kilmacanogue, Co. Wicklow
A sympathetic complete renovation of an early 1900’s stone cottage in a wonderful location on the slopes of the Sugarloaf Mountain. Updated with Heat Recovery Ventilation, the project uses natural materials throughout to maintain the breathability of the fabric of the building, and a new roof with reclaimed Killaloe slates. Traditional timber sliding sash windows were supplied by Mellott’s Joinery.
Woodbine Cottage, Lacken, Co. Wicklow
A collaboration with Peter Gowran MRIAI, this project saw the complete renovation of a 1930’s granite cottage, and the addition of a modern highly insulated extension block complete with mezzanine. Windows and doors were supplied by Danish manufacturer Rationel. The house is entirely heated with a wood burning stove, and the main living area has a full height vaulted ceiling.
Blessington Lakes Sailing Club, Junior Clubhouse.
This project involved the removal of an existing 1960’s timber clubhouse building, and the construction of a highly insulated timber frame structure in it’s place. The existing foundation piers were reused, and a large wrap around deck was installed to enjoy the spectacular views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Heating is provided with instant Far Infra Red panels which perfectly suits the usage of the building.
